Kim David Bots (1988) graduated Fine Arts at the HKU in 2012, lives and works in Amsterdam. He is a painter avant la lettre, often working in series. His works read like fragmented narratives, sometimes cynical, sometimes outright funny, and always spot on. Besides his paintings he also frequently publishes artist books.
The design Kim made for UNFRAMED is an epitome of things he’s been working on; things he forgot and images that didn’t quite fit in a series yet. The result is a colorful explosion of trial and error, and shapes that you might see in one of his new artworks in the future.
Kim had numerous solo and group exhibitions worldwide including Art Brussels, de Studio, Antwerp, Art Rotterdam, Extrapool, Nijmegen, Sasso, Vairano, Billytown, Den Haag and Slow Culture, Los Angeles. He won the Piet Bakker Prize in 2012 and was nominated for the Royal award for Modern Painting in 2015.
